So you’ve seen the Maltese islands? Done the ancient history of Valletta; been done by some innocent looking street vendor offering you a once-in-a-lifetime bargain and relaxed on the soft honeycomb sand at Ghadira Bay? Time to go diving then…..
The warm all year round climate, clear underwater visibility stretching some 30 metres and the size of the islands – nowhere is ever more than a 40 minute drive away – are making them an increasingly sought after destination for both novice and experienced divers.
Malta and Gozo offer a wide range of dive centres. The sea around the Maltese islands does not tend to suffer from the strong underwater currents that hamper many other dive destinations.
Most dive centres offer basic or intensive PADI courses that suit everyone. An introductory dive can cost as little as Lm10 while the Advanced Open Water Diver certification will set you back between Lm150-Lm200.
Malta offers amazing diving and water sport opportunities for both beginners and advanced open water and cave divers in its tiny island of Comino which is only a mile long and uninhabited.
Famous for its stunning blue lagoon, natural harbours, labyrinthine caves, sheltered creeks, reefs and wartime wrecks, the Islands are inviting and tempting for any lover of water sports.
For an unforgettable adventure, you can even take part in a night-time dive or diver deeper to 30 or 40 metres. Using a torchlight, the colours of the underwater sea life appear almost fluorescent.
